Read the playbook →“We had $12k in savings and a dream. LoDeposit matched us to a Sydney off-the-plan + the 5% scheme + the NSW grant. We moved in 14 months later. The bank said it was impossible.”
“Single mum, two kids, $8k in the bank. Help to Buy + Family Home Guarantee + a Keystart-style state scheme got me into a new townhouse in Adelaide. I cried at settlement.”
“As an investor, I used the weekly deposit plan to keep my cash deployed elsewhere. By settlement I’d earned more on the cash than I’d spent on the deposit.”
From 1 October 2025, eligible first home buyers can purchase with as little as 5% under the expanded 5% Deposit Scheme. Single parents with dependents can go even lower — 2% under the Family Home Guarantee. The new Help to Buy scheme (open 5 Dec 2025) also starts at 2%, with the government contributing up to 40% of the purchase price.
No. We don't issue loans. We are an independent comparison platform that maps every federal, state and developer-backed low-deposit pathway and matches them to your situation. We then connect you to the right lender, developer or scheme provider.
Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) protects the bank if you default on a loan with less than a 20% deposit. It can cost $10,000–$30,000+ on a typical Sydney home. You avoid it entirely under the 5% Deposit Scheme, the Family Home Guarantee, Help to Buy, and via state lenders like Keystart (WA) and HomeStart (SA).
Help to Buy is a shared-equity scheme launching 5 December 2025. The Australian Government contributes up to 40% of the price of a new home (30% for existing homes) in exchange for an equivalent ownership share. You save a minimum 2% deposit, take out a normal mortgage for the rest, and can buy back the government’s stake over time. 10,000 places per year, income cap $103K (single) / $165K (joint).
Yes — most schemes stack. You can typically use a state First Home Owner Grant on top of the 5% Deposit Scheme, the First Home Super Saver Scheme on top of Help to Buy, and so on. The calculator shows you the optimal stack. We also flag any combinations that aren’t allowed.
For most federal schemes you need to be an Australian citizen (permanent residents qualify for some state grants and the Family Home Guarantee). New Zealand citizens on a special category visa may also qualify for several schemes. Check each scheme’s eligibility in our guides.
Off-the-plan construction typically takes 12–24 months. Your weekly payments line up with the build period. We structure plans to align with your construction timeline and projected settlement date, so you arrive at settlement with the full deposit ready.
Seven questions. We rank every federal, state and developer pathway you qualify for, with deposit, weekly payments, LMI saved and the grants you’re leaving on the table.
